Autumn Equinox

Fiery sun slowly seems to lose power,
As long summer day shortens by and by,
Ripe fruit is replacing fading flower,

Where are alert squirrels, chipmunks and hare?
A glimpse amongst bushes see here or there,

Soft breeze brings down cherry blooms in shower,
Under cherry trees now carpeted they lie ,
Fiery sun slowly seems to lose power,

Red cardinals are gone, so are blue jays ,
Last of the robins do sing parting lays ,

Lots of nuts and acorns squirrels devour,
All sorts of seeds in their granaries lie,
Ripe fruit is replacing fading flower,

Foxes and bears search caves to hibernate,
Migratory geese and swans can’t stay late.

Reaping time for industrious bauer,
Making bundles of harvested wheat and rye,
Fiery sun slowly seems to lose power,

Vast expanse of bare fields about to rest,
Will rejuvenate during winter months .

Verdure leaves turn to colourful perure,
Deep cerulean turns clear autumn sky,
Ripe fruit is replacing fading flower,

Divine bliss lies in Nature’s calm bowers,
Behold , myriad hues are there to spy ,
Fiery sun slowly seems to lose power,
Ripe fruit is replacing fading flower.

The Unsung Songs  With parched throat and cracking voice,  I tried to sing the song of life,  Where love abounds and happiness reigns,  But no words came out of my mind,  Those whom I loved deserted me,  Turned my life into a fearful farce,  Snatched my happiness with their lies,  Just to keep up an honest face,  My rhythm broke, the music faded,  Into the darkest recesses of soul ,  Frozen along with grief of betrayal,  Shattering my belief in humanity all,  Song of peace remained unsung,  Tear choked throat lost its voice,  Deep wounds inflicted on my mind,  Took away melodies of every kind.  Sarita Khullar
