River

******
A tiny trickle from the melting snow,
A gush of water from the womb of earth
,A deafening fall from the mountain top,
Turning into a smooth soft flow of water.
**************************
Glistening in the sun in the golden mornings,
Reflecting moonbeams in the moon- lit nights
,Each star reflecting in my crystal clear waters,
Keep moving wherever my sweet will takes me.
*****************************
I leave behind verdant woods, life’s congregations,
Vast alluvial lands that have sustained generations,
With myriad species of crops I fill field and gardens,
My shores make history and develop civilizations .
*******************************
*My shores teem with life and all that’s beauteous,
Beware! Yet I can be furious and dangerous,
Don’t have a misconception about your sins
,And don’t fill me up with all dirt and pollutants.
***********************
Slowly ,steadily I move to reach my object,
Inspiring every soul what they start to achieve
What you start once ,never you should leave ,
Even the tiniest step will take us to our target.

The Unsung Songs  With parched throat and cracking voice,  I tried to sing the song of life,  Where love abounds and happiness reigns,  But no words came out of my mind,  Those whom I loved deserted me,  Turned my life into a fearful farce,  Snatched my happiness with their lies,  Just to keep up an honest face,  My rhythm broke, the music faded,  Into the darkest recesses of soul ,  Frozen along with grief of betrayal,  Shattering my belief in humanity all,  Song of peace remained unsung,  Tear choked throat lost its voice,  Deep wounds inflicted on my mind,  Took away melodies of every kind.  Sarita Khullar
